Steel fixings are provided to allow for easy and hidden installation into a solid brick or concrete wall.

These mantle pieces are available in two finish options - worked (where lengths of the wood are cut and sanded to give a more rustic, natural look) or square (un-worked so edges are flat, giving a more contemporary finish).
 
For reference, the oak mantle in the photo has been "lightly worked".
 
The character Oak we use for the very fact that hair line fractures and knotts  can be seen and are entirely expected
